Ook in Rotterdam: Ministry of Make
A 4-day workshop on 22/23 and 29/30 September, with Elma van Boxel and Kristian Koreman to collectively develop a vision to combat the current housing crisis, using one of the 100 test kits that together form a life-size model of the Netherlands.
Together with the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (IABR) and MANN, architectural office ZUS has developed the Ministery of Make. Together, they have called on 100 architects, (landscape) designers and urban planners to help Minister Hugo de Jonge with future-proofing the Netherlands with a million extra homes that need to be built in the next ten years. Dividing the Netherlands in 100 different locations in the Netherlands, each design will provide insight into how these homes could be realized. Facing not only spatial challenges, this project also deals with the consequences of climate change, subsidence, rising sea levels, the nitrogen problem and energy transition.
This autumn we organise a workshop together with ZUS and collectively develop a plan for one of these test sites, using a specially developed Test Kit containing everything necessary to build a model. The results will be exhibited at the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam in October 2022. What ideas would you come up with? Ready to get your hands dirty?
